Cryptography is largely seen as one of the few technologies that Defenders have advantage over the Attackers. However there are some seismic shifts coming up in the field of cryptography which could tip the advantage in favour of the Attackers. Is Australia ready for it? This talk is based on some of my work over the last 6 months where I authored a multi-year strategy for cryptography and key management for a Critical Infrastructure organisation in Australia. We'll be touching briefly on where cryptography has been, where it is today, why change is necessary, and where cryptography needs to go in order to prepare for the future (including an era of Quantum Computing).
