Being a hacker no longer requires you to be sophisticated and technologically savvy. Today, all a person needs is a credit card and no ethics. With the rise of “script kiddies” and devices like a Wi-Fi Pineapple, anyone can be armed with what they need to commit cyber crimes or get involved in nefarious schemes. Many of these “cyberattacks-in-a-box” are cheap and easy-to-use. However, the scary part is that they can be very harmful if used with malicious intent. It’s important to understand how the new hacks work and go about invading your computer or network. Owning a Pineapple device or gaining access to potentially evil scripts isn’t necessarily illegal, but if the wrong person gets a hold of them, you need to be ready to defend! During this session, attendees will learn what types of “cyberattacks-in-a-box” are being used, how they are being used for malicious intent, and how to defend against these types of attacks.
