Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) are essential for any sustainable data protection compliance framework. DPIAs ensure that organizations are aware, from the outset, of all possible consequences of their data processing operations. While the General Data Protection Regulation only imposes DPIAs in the case of processing operations that result in, or can result in, a high risk for individuals, at the very least an initial assessment should be carried out to qualify the processing operation as such.
