While the consistency mechanism of the General Data Protection Regulation ensures that regulators across the EU work collaboratively and have a process for working out their differences, it’s also true that organizations like the Global Privacy Enforcement Network and the International Conference of Data Protection and Privacy Commissioners have arisen to provide a platform for the world’s regulators to work together and team up on guidance and enforcement actions. How do regulators set up lines of communication? What triggers an international investigation? How do regulators navigate varying penalties for varying offenses in varying jurisdictions? Our panelists will explore these areas while referencing their agencies’ experiences in collaborating with each other.
