Encryption and anonymity offered by Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are exploited for securing illicit transactions, but these transactions still include attributable features that lead to identifying information. While Dark Webs and cryptocurrencies are increasingly popular, these nascent technologies are still misunderstood by many users. In “Using OSINT for Cryptocurrency Attribution," the presenter will rapidly demonstrate how freely available, open source tools may be employed to gather valuable information in support of investigations through live examples and real-world applications. Attendees will learn how to; Recognize resources for cryptocurrency tracking; Identify indications of cryptocurrency mechanisms; and Map cryptocurrency exchanged for attribution.
