Every day organized and global cybercrime gangs take down large corporations and government entities, the smaller keyboard warriors hide themselves online, bullying, threatening and stealing from your family and friends. You turn to the police for help but more often than not, they tell you that there is nothing they can do. Why can’t law enforcement help you? Who’s guarding the gateway? Law enforcement is rapidly becoming the last place you turn to for help when cybercrime strikes, and in this presentation we will discuss the reasons behind this distrust and dive into what law enforcement needs to understand in order to take back the internet. We will examine the current flaws in thinking and look at why law enforcement is quickly becoming a hindrance rather than a solution in the context of cybercrime. Lastly we will look at what the private sector brings to the table that law enforcement cannot.
