In this presentation, we will review federal and state laws that address the appropriate use of technology in schools (including CIPA, COPPA, and FERPA) and also discuss emerging technologies (virtual reality, artificial intelligence) and how we can find the balance between using the latest technology and maintaining our students’ privacy.Employee Privacy As public entities, schools must find the right balance between transparency and safeguarding the privacy of their employees. In this presentation, we will apply different privacy and legal frameworks as well as best practices to an educational context and ultimately make recommendations as to how to best strike this balance.
