ls, grep, find, ifconfig. We all know these tools and use them on a daily basis. But there are more, better and more modern alternatives out there. In this talk, we will take a look at the Commandline Tools 2018.Linux without a command line is like a night sky without stars. But have you ever taken a closer look at the tools we (still) use? Most of the ones we use on a daily basis are based on the POSIX and/or GNU userland. POSIX tools and options originate (partly) in the 1980s and the command line tools of GNU are not much younger. But there are more modern, more functional alternatives. Let's take a look together on ripgrep, exa, fzf, ip and others!
