We all want to make our programs more secure and thankfully we have things to help us like static code analysis and coding standards. But what if you wanted to make a programming language more secure? That's one of the questions that motivated the development of the Rust programming language. Rust is a systems programming language with 3 goals: safety, speed and concurrency. This talk will look at 3 common bug classes (buffer overflows, use after free and data races) explore how they occur in code and then examine how Rust tries to contain or even prevent these bugs in it's programs.
