Because the healthcare industry is inherently decentralized, healthcare data will also remain decentralized -- there is no longer a 'single source of truth.’ Accountable Care Organizations, wearable technology, home devices, and portable health records are examples of independent data generating and collection points. This presentation will: 1) demonstrate the internal and external challenges faced by CIOs in healthcare, 2) what unique data, compliance, and safeguards need to be considered when managing sensitive information across the patient lifecycle, and, 3) practical measures that can be taken to counter persistent threats and ensure patient privacy and system continuity.
