After 15 years reporting on information security, Risky Business podcast host Patrick Gray reflects on the journey of "teh cybar" from a subculture and hobby to the forefront of the agenda of the 2016 US presidential race. With a particular focus on 2010-2016, this talk will examine some of events that foretold where we are now: From the University of East Anglia attacks (recently cited by US Presidential-elect Donald Trump as evidence against man-made climate change) to the Saudi Aramco and Sony Pictures attacks, Patrick looks at how the events of 2016 should have come as no surprise.
