As technology continues to be the driving force behind differentiation and strategic advantage in the digital age, tech leaders are being thrust into the spotlight. While this global transformation presents tremendous opportunities for the elevation of the CIO, CTO and CISO roles, it also comes with added expectations. IT leaders can no longer be the “back-office” IT guy; 20-minute, once-yearly board presentations are becoming longer, monthly briefings and it is expected that they be able to speak the language of enterprise leaders. To address these changes, the Washington University in St. Louis brought in a communications professional to serve as a bridge between IT and the rest of the university, and the results have been nothing short of tremendous. Kevin Hardcastle and Aisha Hamilton share their innovative approach to connecting the business with IT and IT with the business.
