The cyber criminal underground economy is a rising tide that rivals the surface web. Far from individual hackers, it’s an entire criminal enterprise that spans the globe. Trend Micro researchers have been monitoring the Internet’s seedy underbelly for years. After all, every major breach begins and ends there. Each can be traced back to a tool transaction happening on the underground, and stolen data ends up being passed around after the breach. CISOs and board members alike must understand the broader threat implications of the deep web to better protect their organizations from cyber crime.
