In 2014, the Obama administration announced the “Smart Cities” initiative that invested more than $160M in federal research and leveraged more than 25 new technology collaborations to help local communities tackle key challenges. Hartford, Connecticut, was one of the three lucky cities selected as part of the experiment. From fighting crime to reducing traffic congestion, the goal is for cities to target federal resources to meet local needs and support community-led solutions. Join this co-presentation as Sabina Sitaru and Brett Flodine from the City of Hartford discuss the impact the “Smart Cities” initiative has had on Hartford a year later.
