The hack.lu motto of 2014 was: “Within a few months of its availability, new technology helps the bad guys at least as much as it helps the good guys” This has inspired me to build a conference presentation around the topic of how researchers should keep this in mind always to try to make sure that research doesn’t end up harming more than it helps. Topics covered include: History of research efforts being abused by bad guys An understanding of what problems this causes Ways to avoid this going forward A call for a code of conduct/ethical standards among researchers inspired by Raphael Vinots blog
