Hong Kong Customs With the rapid development of globalisation and the consequential upsurge of e-commerce transactions, illicit trade has become increasingly transnational through the entwined supply chain. No single party can resolve this problem and stepping up Customs-Industry partnership is a key to successful enforcement against potential risks in the supply chain. Hong Kong is an international and regional transportation hub. To fight against illicit trade and plug supply chain security gaps, Hong Kong Customs has bolstered the Customs-Industry partnership through putting in place various cooperative initiatives, such as the Swift Intelligence Exchange Scheme and signing of MOU with major express cargo couriers, recently. Under these initiatives, remarkable enforcement results were made on narcotics, illicit cigarettes and in particular counterfeit goods. Further, Hong Kong Customs has set up an Electronic Crime Investigation Centre in February 2013 and an Electronic Recordation and Triage Center in April 2014 respectively to tackle challenges arising from advanced cyber technologies and to augment collaboration with the industry. Successful examples will be illustrated in this respect.
