Presented at IAPPEuDPC 2014 by

This edition of the Privacy Platform addresses the right for data subjects to request data controllers to delete their personal data in certain circumstances, and the developments with regard to the European Commission's proposal for a Right to be Forgotten in the context of the current revision of EU data protection legislation. With the EU Court of Justice's Costeja judgment of 13 May 2014, the court has extended the right to deletion to online search engines by defining them as data controllers. The Privacy Platform panel will discuss the implications of this ruling for the privacy of data subjects, search engines and freedom of expression.
