Privacy regulators and legislators invest considerably in defining and interpreting legal rules for the protection of individuals’ fundamental rights to personal data protection and privacy. Simultaneously, however, developers of Internet tools and applications often implement and deploy new data collection and processing mechanisms without proper privacy and data protection safeguards in place. This trend increases the risk that the privacy of individuals will not be effectively protected in practice, despite all efforts of data protection authorities, privacy officers and privacy advocates. The Internet Privacy Engineering Network (IPEN) brings together developers and data protection experts with a technical background from different areas in order to launch and support projects that build privacy into everyday tools and develop new tools which can effectively protect and enhance privacy. What you’ll takeaway: · An approach to exploring real-life problems and develop a technical approach to find solutions that work in practice · Learn more about the IPEN initiative, launched by the European data protection supervisor and other DPAs
