Examining one infected host usually won’t provide enough information to identify a global bacterial or viral outbreak. The same can be said for malware. Security professionals often find themselves at a disadvantage when it comes to determining attribution related to a particular malware infestation. Generally speaking, a malware investigation is often limited to the systems owned by the individual or organization with limited visibility into the global community at large. What can be done to draw conclusions faster and more accurately? How can peer organizations get involved for the greater good?
