Mr. Ishman will discuss recent network and data security incidents, and how companies are addressing these breaches. First, there are many federal and state laws that address network security and data standards, including laws that regulate a particular industry, such as the financial and healthcare sector. Additionally, there is an increasing regulatory scrutiny by both federal and state agencies. It is very important that companies understand these agencies' concerns and comply with their security standards. By being proactive and implementing best practice policies and procedures, companies will put themselves in the best position to minimize their exposure from any unforeseen breaches. Last, this presentation will examine recent litigation activity related to network security and data breaches, and discuss best proactive practices to respond to such breaches, including but not limited to, advance planning, coordination with law enforcement, vulnerability audits and insurance coverage issues.
