This speech takes a focus on the environment and reveals the barely mentioned world of dirty computing. Computing is coming to an end of a pollutant era and it is time that the coalition between the environment and computing began. It is the industry that is utilized in almost all other industries for them to functionally perform their duties. Just because previous human eras didn't fully comprehend the affects of what they did to the world around them, doesn't mean we need to act so blind or coy. Computing can bear a huge impact in the perception of green technologies and advances due to its inherently integral use in our daily lives. The affect of the hand of man on the environment is painstakingly obvious. With the danger of raising water levels, pollutants, and being on the precipice of irreversible environmental damage we need to start re-evaluating technology and the step it needs to take to become more eco-friendly, biodegradable, and renewable. Cultural perception that the environment is not under strain is pervasive, but with enough discussion we can bring these issues to light. Technology has quickly become the thing we all share and depend on. We need to begin to utilize this powerfully encompassing tool to unite the human species, with all of our wonderful diversity, to make technology as powerful and as globalizing as possible. By having technology and computing take a step towards being more eco-friendly it would definitely stir more attention to the damage that we are causing to our planet. Clean Computing can help usher in a new page of human innovation. The ability of technology to start becoming more life-like could herald in major transformations in our more elusive fields, not just salvaging the environment. Robotics, the biomedical industry, space exploration, and numerous fields within computing could benefit from a change in perception. Not only would clean computing revolutionize technology, it would change industry overall. Every field that technology is used in could be touched by clean computing. In general, computing industry would massively benefit from having an epiphany about the state of the environment and computing's contribution to environmental damage so far, and realize the torch it holds that can carry us into the future.
