This session covers broad cyber trends and provides an in-depth discussion on who the threats are, why they are targeting you, and how to protect yourself. To begin, we will cover the type of methods a hacking group will use to gain access to an organization. From there we will address the cybersecurity attack surface, and view it from the perspective of a hacker. After covering the threats out there, we will cover strategies to protect yourself and your organization better, and how to react if and when a network breach happens. The field of cybersecurity and information security is a large and growing industry. For this generation of leaders, managers, and daily users, it is important to gain a firm grasp of the current issues and trends in order to effectively protect yourself and your company. As a leader or a key member of a group involved with securing or using information technologies (computers, tablets, smart phones, etc.), it is unavoidable that you will encounter various threats to your personal and corporate information. In a poll conducted in 2013, 45% of senior leadership said that they are responsible for protecting their companies against a cyberattack, but 52% of them give corporate America's response to cyber threats a grade of C or lower. The companies that do the most effective cybersecurity have security ingrained in their culture, from the top down. Cybersecurity at your workplace (and home) is important to almost everyone. 73% of office workers are concerned that their personal information like home address, social security number or other information could be stolen by a hacker. Employees are not confident that their sensitive information is secure, and there are many reasons why.
