President Obama's Executive Order - Improving Critical Infrastructure Cybersecurity - has been the hottest topic in the security space since it was issued last year, noting that “The cyber threat to critical infrastructure continues to grow and represents one of the most serious national security challenges we must confront. The national and economic security of the United States depends on the reliable functioning of the Nation's critical infrastructure in the face of such threats.” The NIST Cybersecurity Framework is one of the more significant document released by NIST in the recent past. It will have a definite impact on the private sector and the supply-chain that currently services the nation’s critical infrastructure. Since the final draft was first released, there has been controversy regarding the impact on the country and the private sector. While called "voluntary," there are concerns that legislation is looming and the framework will not meet privacy concerns of the EU. Please join John DiMaria; ISO Product Manager for BSI and key contributor to the development of the NIST Framework as he moderates a panel of experts who will break down the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Framework and discuss how the Framework's components will affect the security of critical infrastructure and comparative standards. Participants will develop an understanding of: Cybersecurity framework overview The new framework’s high-level structure Key improvements and changes The requirements of the framework Discuss how the NIST Framework harmonizes with EU efforts Best practices for evaluating your organization against the framework and addressing gaps
