The top 10 Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) enforcement actions, from 2008 through early 2014, have resulted in settlements of nearly $4 billion. These settlements can ravage stock prices, executive tenure, and employee morale. And that’s without considering the cost of litigation. Add to this the threat of prosecutions from both the FCPA and the UK Bribery Act (UKBA) as well as the effect on the corporate reputation, and it is easy to see why some companies are beginning to rethink markets where corruption is perceived as rife. This session will examine how corporate security professionals can keep organizations out of danger of litigation and exorbitant fines, how security is the first line in the defense of an organization’s reputation, and how FCPA and UKBA are being enforced.
