We are seeing a paradigm shift, called connected context computing, where everything can sense information, communicate the data with one another, collaboratively analyze the context, and take proper actions to help humans. This new paradigm shift is enabled by the maturity of a few game changing capacities, such as, sensors, internet, wireless communication, cloud computing, and machine learning algorithms. For example, sensors on a car can help drivers recognize the potential risk of running into each other; in particular, sensors and inter-vehicle communication can help us see what we cannot see. With timely and proper warning, many vehicle accidents can be avoided. This talk will focus on the challenges and opportunities of vehicle safety when vehicles can talk to each other.
