Presented at CISOVancouver 2014 by

National security intelligence agencies are subject to strict oversight and scrutiny, but does the existing legislation and framework adequately reflect the current operating environment and public interest? In this presentation, Michael Doucet explores the role and function of the Security Intelligence Review Committee, which reports on the operations of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, assuring Parliament and Canadian citizens that CSIS investigates and reports on national security threats in the best manner possible. William Galbraith addresses the framework governing the Communications Security Establishment, and the role of the CSE Commissioner in reviewing the activities of the government’s cryptologic agency, to ensure they comply with the law, and in providing a report for Parliament.
