The perfect storm of 'Known unknowns' and 'Unknown knowns' of the information available in the Public domain has sounded a clear warning about the need to review the threat models to information infrastructure from the current well defined, comparatively trivial threats to well-resourced nation-states. This a-political presentation re-frames the risks as an Active Persistent Threat and proposes how an ethical information security professional can maintain their integrity and advance the cause of good security practices by contributing to the public narrative in a changed world.
