Presented at S4 2014 by

PLC's are ideal places to hide attack code and communication channels. They are computers, that are treated like black boxes. Software and hardware upgrades are rare after deployment. They are the printers of the ICS world from an attackers perspective. In this session Mr. Hilt will show a prototype of PLCpwn, a hardware addition to a popular PLC that provides an attack platform and Internet access that leverages PLC power and network resources. The capabilities of the PLCpwn will be demonstrated and explained. The time and cost of developing this offensive capability, and the cost of likely ICS cyber weapon expansions will be estimated.
