Presented at AUScert 2008 by

The fuzzing technique has resulted in a significant percentage of vulnerabilities discovered by the security industry. This blackbox approach needs only limited knowledge of the internal workings of its targets, but can reveal how exposed the systems are to compromise. Fuzzing is commonly misunderstood, even by those in the security industry. This presentation will provide the attendee with an understanding of the practice and principles of this interrogation method. An appreciation of why Microsoft and Mozilla have enthusiastically embraced Fuzzing into their development life cycle will also be gained. Fuzzing is deservedly gaining popularity inside and outside of security circles. A working knowledge and understanding of this evolving interrogation approach is imperative for any professional committed to keeping ahead of the game.
