We are all experiencing the explosive growth of mobile devices and applications in the work environment. The pervasiveness of mobile smartphones and tablets loaded with consumer apps in today’s enterprises increases security risks on several fronts. Without proper controls and adherence to security policy, mobile users can expose enterprises to data loss and breaches. As the number of mobile users and mobile services expands, so must the protection of the user’s data. So how can you secure the data while encouraging the collaboration and productivity that today’s mobile workers are demanding? In this workshop, Eugene Liderman, Director, Public Sector for the office of the CTO, Good Technology and Sriram Krishnan, Senior Director, Product Management and Ecosystem, Good Technology, will educate the audience on how cryptographic technologies can be extended to mobility to ensure data protection, particularly in today’s Bring Your Own- and App-centric economy. They will present the trends in mobility and detail the risks that come with the enterprises’ quest to innovate, generate increased employee productivity, and improve customer or constituent service as they leverage mobility in their organizations. They will show several ways that the cryptographic module can be implemented including FIPS-validated containerization of apps and data and strong authentication via methods including Secure Element microSD and smart cards, biometrics, Near Field Communications contactless cards, and embedded Trusted Execution Environment. Mr. Liderman and Mr. Krishnan will also discuss other best practices beyond the cryptographic module that should be considered, including intrusion detection, continuous monitoring, policy, and user education. The audience will additionally benefit from the sharing of real-world use cases and secure mobile workflow examples across financial services, healthcare, public sector and other vertical industries to show how enterprises are leveraging mobility securely for competitive advantage.
