To compete in today’s marketplace, organizations are searching for quicker and less expensive IT applications and support, often looking to vendors for solutions. As these solutions are moved to external providers, the responsibility for protecting company data transfers as well. What is not transferred is accountability. CISOs need to understand the protections provided by the vendor and the business function must maintain the relationship and oversight responsibilities with the vendor. Maintaining new relationships with IT service providers is a constant challenge for even the most veteran CISOs.
