"For years, we've been educating users about the risk of clicking unfamiliar links, links from untrusted sources, and links consisting of shortened URLs. With the proliferation of smart phones, a new and far scarier threat vector has emerged the QR Code. Because of their ease of use, the lack of initial visual indication of the destination URL or action, and the difficulty in detection of injected QR codes, they pose a far greater danger to users. I'm currently conducting research consisting of a distributed deployment of a wide range of QR codes in various mediums to simulate potential attacks. I'll be sharing the results of the research, including an associated educational campaign and input from the affected users, to demonstrate the effectiveness of QR codes to perform an array of attacks."
