"Smart and always-connected consumer electronic devices such as smartphones are still considered new when it comes to designing and implementing effective security, mitigating risks, analyzing threats, defining protection profile, and so on. While all of the aforementioned activities are in progress, we are adding more and more functionality to mobile devices and supporting additional use cases on them, which makes security in this entire mobile ecosystem a moving target. Only to make matters more complex, data sets that are already extremely large are also growing in size in an additional dimension because they are increasingly being gathered by ubiquitous information-sensing mobile devices. While defining Big Data security is in its infancy, the combination of Mobile and Big Data is a problem of a higher order and a larger magnitude, especially when the security of this combination is concerned. In this technical session, after describing Mobile and other always connected devices with a focus on security, we'll discuss the new wave of Big Data. We'll then proceed to Big Data security, and how a combination of Mobile and Big Data behaves differently when it comes to security. We will conclude by identifying main trends in Mobile and Big Data security and practical proposals on how to deal with them."
