ìThe presentation will give the audience a brief overview of the evolution of computer viruses, starting with viruses written to demonstrate a coderís superiority in programming and system knowledge, and moving into the ëBrave new worldí viruses where malicious code, Trojan horses to be precise, is used in online fraud yielding considerable financial gains. The presentation will quickly cover the evolution of online threats as well as the industryís current cybercrime counter-measures. The latter part of the presentation will expose ëCrimewareís Final Frontierí ñ the possibilities enabled by ëscreen-scrapingí. This part of the presentation will also cover the increasing interest shown by Trojan coders in enabling a VNC plugin on their code, turning their victimsí infected machines into ëVNC Serversí. Although the true reason behind this new trend remains somewhat unclear, there are good speculations as to why this may be the new emerging Trojan feature the industry will have to deal with. A POC of a new screen-scraping technique will be presented as the presentationís grand-finale.
