A presentation on the makeup of some mass-produced 'one-way' munitions we are starting to see in global conflicts. No videos were made available for this talk. -- This talk will examine and deep-dive into a technical evaluation and teardown of the Russian Geran-2 suicide drone. This drone is currently licensed from Iran by Russia, and is currently being mass produced and fielded in the war against Ukraine. First I will go over some of the publicly available information on the target system as an introduction before diving into the assembled components I have been acquiring over the past several months as a side hobby. I will then show off my hardware twin of the geran-2 platform, and go through the debugging + construction process + work it took to get things to start turning on. I'll cover a lot of the debugging side of things, and then discuss some of the recent changes that one of the manufacturers has done in particular to enable mass production of these systems they did not use to do. Following that I'll discuss what some of my process of looking for bugs is starting to look like now that things are starting to work. And discuss where I hope to find some vulnerabilities and how to get there from the remote attack surface. After going through some of the remotely accessible attack surface I'll go through some of the currently gaps and limitations in my current approach looking for vulnerabilities and discuss the next steps (and shill for the Styx Emulator and how its really cool for this sort of thing).
